Arctic Circle Aurora Drive Adventure

The Arctic Circle Aurora Drive provides an opportunity to cross the Arctic Circle by day and spend the evening looking for the Aurora Borealis.  This tour is available the full length of the Aurora Season broken down into two sub seasons - FALL AURORA from August 21 - September 18 and WINTER AURORA from September 19 - April 21.  

NEW FOR the 2017 - 2018 Season -- Yukon River Aurora Drive - two options: one with the Arctic Circle and one without.

FALL Arctic Circle Aurora Drive Adventure 

A Guided Round Trip Winter Journey By Land Across The Arctic Circle. Travel north by day to experience Alaska's Arctic and south by night to scan the northern skies for the amazing aurora.

Tour Summary:

  • Ground tour north from Fairbanks in the personalized comfort of our tour vehicles. 
  • Learn the story of Alaska's Arctic both while traveling in the van and at the various stops along the way. 
  • View the remarkable Trans Alaska Pipeline. 
  • Travel the rugged Dalton Highway made famous by the construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. 
  • Witness firsthand the remarkable wilderness scenery blanketed in snow. 
  • Traverse the mighty Yukon River. 
  • Cross the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. 
  • On the return journey your guide will make one or two stops along the road to scan the northern sky for the aurora. 
  • Departs 10:00 am; returns between midnight and 1:00 am. 
  • Tour Schedule: September 19 - April 21.  Sunday, Tuesday, Friday primary departures - other days may be available.
  • FALL 2017 Rate: $269 / person
  • ADD HOMESTEAD AURORA to the Fall Arctic Circle Aurora Drive. Stay out later on your Arctic Circle Fall Aurora Drive during the time right before and after Solar Midnight. This is the time the scientists have identified as the most active in Alaska. As your Arctic Circle Fall Aurora Drive returns to Fairbanks there is a stop at approximately 11:00 PM in Joy, Alaska at the Arctic Circle Trading Post.  There guests who have added the Homestead Aurora will meet their new guide who will share more information on life in Alaska's Arctic while you scan the darkened sky for the Aurora Borealis.
  • FALL HOMESTEAD AURORA ADD-0N:  $50 per person

 

WINTER Arctic Circle Aurora Drive Adventure 

A Guided Round Trip Winter Journey By Land Across The Arctic Circle. Travel north by day to experience Alaska's Arctic and south by night to scan the northern skies for the amazing aurora.

  • Learn the story of Alaska's Arctic both while traveling in the van and at the various stops along the way.

  • Travel the rugged Dalton Highway made famous by the construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. 
  • Witness firsthand the remarkable wilderness scenery blanketed in snow. 
  • Traverse the mighty Yukon River. 
  • Cross the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. 
  • Stop in Joy Alaska at the Arctic Circle Trading Post which will become your stop for scanning the darkened skies for the Aurora. The location is 60 miles outside of Fairbanks away from the city lights.  
  • Stay out around Solar Midnight, the time the scientists have determined are the most active in Alaska's Arctic. 
  • Departs 10:00 am; returns between 3:30 and 4:30 am. 
  • Tour Schedule: September 19, 2017 - April 21, 2018.  Sunday, Tuesday, Friday primary departures - other days may be available

Yukon River Aurora Drive Adventure 

A Guided Round Trip Winter Journey By Land To The Yukon River. Scan the northern skies for the amazing aurora at the mighty Yukon River.

Tour Summary:

  • Ground tour north from Fairbanks in the personalized comfort of our tour vehicles. 
  • Learn the story of Alaska's Arctic both while traveling in the van and at the various stops along the way. 
  • View the remarkable Trans Alaska Pipeline. 
  • Travel the rugged Dalton Highway made famous by the construction of the Trans Alaska Pipeline. 
  • Stop at the Yukon River and base out of the Yukon River Camp as your Aurora viewing destination.
  • Stay out around Solar Midnight, the time the scientists have determined are the most active in Alaska's Arctic. 
  • Day 2 depart the Yukon river at 10:00 am. Return to Fairbanks between 2;00 pm - 3:00 pm.
  • Departs day 1 at 6:00 pm; returns day 2 between 2:00 and 3:00 pm. 
  • Tour Schedule: September 19, 2017 - April 21, 2018.  Monday, Thursday, and Saturday primary departures - other days may be available
